My name is Rachel Baker and I am a cofounder of Cheese On Wheels. I grew up in Bellevue, Washington, a suburb outside Seattle, and have been going to the city my entire life. I currently am a junior at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington studying public relations and business. Pullman is definitely my happy place but I love coming home to the city and getting my shopping fix in from time to time. My primary role on the team is the user experience manager which means that I work on building our website, managing our social media and analyzing the customer traffic on these sites. This role specifically is really interesting to me because I love social media and finding new things online. I also really love graphic design and I think I can make a trendy yet professional media platform for our company. This semester I am definitely most excited about building a website, advertising to the public about our company, and having the opportunity for real life examples to work with throughout the duration of the class. This class has been a great way to learn different parts to setting up a business and it has already been highly informative. I currently hold two part time jobs in Pullman. I work at Freshens on campus making smoothies and I also work for high schools around the Palouse refing volleyball matches. My goals after college are to get a job in the public relations industry for a high-end company or begin event planning. These both are jobs I am extremely passionate about because I enjoy talking to people, organizing events, and working in fast paced environments and really hope to one day provide those services for people. Hopefully this summer I can complete an internship in the greater Seattle area and learn more skills to further my knowledge in the field of communication. A couple things about me that make me easy to work with is that I am very honest about my ideas toward a project. I like to voice my opinion on things but I am not demanding. I also am very organized and time oriented. I like to get tasks done before it is too late and I always try to put my best effort forward. I really enjoy working in-group settings because I flow well off of other people’s ideas. Teamwork is really important in the business world and this class does a great job of showing us the first steps to achieve that. One of my favorite quotes is, “Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game” –Babe Ruth.
My name is Catherine Ross and I am very excited to be on the opening team for our new company: Cheese on Wheels. I am a senior at Washington State University studying Public Relations, and pursuing a minor in music. I am originally from Wenatchee, Washington, which has provided me with a love for the outdoors, community, and APPLES (Wenatchee is the apple capital of the world.) My role on this team is project manager. I am excited to take on this role because I have the chance to facilitate team meetings, work with all of the members in the group, and develop a strong brand.
I am very excited for the next level this semester will take me to. The end of my college career is almost in sight, and it is exciting to get some hands on experience in what I could potentially be doing for a career. I have always been incredibly passionate about entertainment, which is where I hope my career takes me. My dream is to do the publicity and marketing for Broadway shows; either touring or staked out in a large city. I believe that my passion, knowledge, and love for theater; and entertainment in general, will help me find a job that I love. I have had the opportunity to do the Disney College Program twice now, where I lived and worked at the Disney Parks in Orlando, Florida. This was an incredible experience for me, and I had the amazing chance to understand what it felt like to work for a major entertainment company. For my next step, I would love to gain some experience working for the company in more of a corporate position to further my skills and enhance my resume.
The biggest strength I have when working in a group is my positive attitude. I try to always maintain a smile and do not let stress prevent me from getting the job done. I have good time management and prefer to have things done well in advance so there is plenty of time to make sure I am producing quality work. I also enjoy being in front of a crowd and public speaking, so I am excited to get some more practice with that skill!
I am extremely confident and excited for what is to come with Cheese on Wheels. I love this concept because it is unique, fun, and something people will really enjoy. While I am confident in our product, I am even more overjoyed with the team we have behind it. I believe that by the end of this semester, our group will be ready to take this company to the streets! One of my biggest idols, and my favorite man to work for, Walt Disney said, “you can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes the people to make the dream a reality.” That’s how I feel about this project, we have a great concept and idea, but the team behind it is going to make it happen.
Hi, my name is Megan Keating and I grew up in Santa Cruz, California. After living at the beach all of my life I wanted something different. I went to Washington State University for an adventure and I chose to study Communication. This seemed like the right choice for me based on my personality. I have always been a talker and I love to write.
As soon as I arrived in Pullman I tried to get involved. I did this in every way I could so I could better improve my education. I attempted to join clubs centered around communication and the ones I selected were Cable 8, Sports Crew, and SEB. Cable 8 is a student run cable program. They have multiple shows and give one the opportunity to learn many skills, both in front and behind the camera without the pressure of doing so after graduation. Sports Crew is an organization that allows Washington State University students to work with ESPN and Pac12 at televised games. Joining this has opened many doors for networking. Also, I have gotten a great view of a lot of big games. Finally, SEB is an organization that puts students in charge of planning events for the school such as concerts and Up all Nights.
My primary role on the team is Content Manager. I am eager to learn more about making campaigns and marketing. Marketing is something I would like to pursue after I graduate so it is nice to delve into it now with a team. I hope to start interviews next semester with companies I am interested in working for after I graduate. My goal is to eventually be working at a Public Relations firm somewhere in the U.K. I expect to have to work my way up to this position. Immediately after I graduate, I aspire to get a job that allows me to completely support myself.
I am a hard-working individual that brings a lot of personality to the table. Creativity comes naturally to me and I am always fully engaged in a project. I love working together with others to complete a task and I have never had a problem adapting to different styles. In my eyes, a collaborative effort always makes for a better result.
As a person, I am competitive and driven. I never back down from a challenge and always give it my all. For these reasons, I believe that I am a great team member and know that I have made a positive impact on many things. In the past, I have had a collection of jobs and have acquired a wide-spread set of skills. I graduate in a few months and I am ready to start this new chapter in my life. All the new changes coming provoke both excitement and fear. I am a bit scared, but I know I will be able to handle any challenge that is thrown at me. “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”- Michael Scott - Wayne Gretzky
My name is Bailey Campbell and Eastern Washington has forever been my home. I was born and raised in Kennewick, Washington or Tri-Cities as most people know it as. I came to Washington State University right after graduating high school in the year 2014. WSU is located a quick 2 hours from my hometown.
I came to WSU not really sure what I wanted to do, now as a senior I still ask myself that same question every day, ‘what is it that I want to do in life?’. I am majoring in communications from the well-known Edward R. Murrow College of Communications. My specialization is in science communications as I would like to be a science writer. I also have a minor in global studies. My background is in the health field. Since my sophomore year I was a nutrition major and just switched this current semester. I hope to combine both the health field, traveling, and writing into my career. With that I hope to take pictures along the way as I love photography.
My aspirations for a career include many little things but what I want most out of it is impact. I want to do something important in my life, something that will impact people in a positive way. I enjoy traveling and capturing perfect moments that will last forever. Hopefully my career will allow me to include both these joys. Otherwise I will just have to do them in the meantime. My career also needs to positively include my spouse. Where I live and work needs to be where my husband can also flourish in his career. I want to live a meaningful life and hope to help make other people’s lives better.
Currently, I work in WSU Athletics as a manager. The Crimson Hub is located in Bohler Gym where student athletes go to workout. The hub provides the athletes with the proper nutrition they need to fuel their busy bodies. Recently, I got hired on with the Daily Evergreen as a news reporter. I cover general news that is happening on campus.
On my team (GO TEAM 5!) I am the Creative director. I create graphic designs, video, and photography that is needed for our project. I oversee all social media posts to make sure that they stay within our fonts and colors scheme, also that they fit our general theme. Creating and editing digital content is what I am most excited for during this project. I am glad to improve my skills within this area.
Positivity is the best advantage of working with me. The atmosphere of the work place needs to be positive and productive. I have a strong eye for detail and it shows in my work. I bring a variety of skills to the table because of my background and various experiences in life. These experiences are what make me unique. When a problem arises I get through it one way or another. My experiences abroad have taught me about a lot about problem solving.
